Yucatán appears in the national ranking of the states in the country that received the most passengers by air from January to April 2024, with almost 1.2 million passengers arriving at the “Manuel Crescencio Rejón” International Airport of Mérida (AIM), a result of the promotion of the state at a national and international level carried out by the State Government to position the entity as an attractive destination for tourists and investors.
This amount is issued based on the figures from the Airport Operational Statistics, presented by the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT).
In addition, it was ranked 9th with the highest volume of passengers during April 2024, reporting a total of 296,161.
Yucatán continues to increase its air connectivity with new international flights that connect Mérida with the cities of Orlando and Miami, in the United States, which allows it to attract greater tourism and economic benefits to the entity, as a result of the promotion of Yucatán in other parts of the world.
As part of this increase in air connection in the region, 2 direct routes were inaugurated: Guanajuato-Mérida, operated by Volaris and Viva Aerobús, as well as Mérida-Guatemala and Mérida-Flores, by TAG Airlines, with 4 and 3 flights to the week, respectively, and competitive rates.
On the other hand, as a result of the efforts of this administration, the territory has a new operational base or Viva hub at the Airport, with which 3 ships spend the night in the Yucatecan capital, connectivity increases, and 600 jobs are generated, including direct and indirect.
