Woman sentenced for animal cruelty in Uman, Yucatan

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) presented the corresponding evidence against N.A.F.M., accused of the crime of mistreatment or cruelty towards a domestic animal, after the death of her pet, which she allegedly left tied up exposed to the sun in Uman.

In a hearing held in the First Control Court of the Fourth District based in Umán, the litigation prosecutors informed the detainee of the crime for which she is accused, after the autopsy was performed by forensic veterinary doctors of the FGE, who point out that the dog’s death was due to multiple organ failure secondary to hyperthermia, with the hearing to be linked to the process scheduled for next Tuesday.

Once the complaint about the case was filed, the Prosecutor’s Office specialists began the investigation that led to criminal case 31/2024, which specifies that the events occurred on June 12, 2023, when the accused left his domestic animal – a mixed-breed dog – tied for several hours at the doors of his home in the aforementioned municipality, which finally caused his death.

The judicial authority determined that the accused must comply with various precautionary measures, including carrying an electronic locator, appearing to sign before the Investigative Prosecutor’s Office of Umán, the prohibition of leaving the State and approaching witnesses of the incident, in addition to being under surveillance. by the corresponding authority.
