One week ago, four men were shot behind the Maya Court soccer field; only one survived and he suffered serious wounds.

On the night of Monday, May 6, a bloody episode shook the municipality of Tulum, one of the most affected by violence in recent times. Three people lost their lives in a shooting attack carried out on Mercurio Street and Luna Sur, behind the Maya field in the Maya neighborhood.

This incident is one of the most serious since Diego Castañón became mayor last year. Castañón, currently campaigning to remain in office, is now facing growing concern in the community over the increase in violence in the region.

The violent event left three people dead and one injured, who was rushed to a hospital. At this time, the survivor’s health status is unknown.

Authorities have not yet managed to capture those responsible for the attack that left the community plunged into uncertainty and fear. It is expected that local authorities will take action to clarify this crime and bring the culprits to justice.

The population of Tulum, dismayed by this new display of violence, is crying out for effective measures to guarantee security and peace in its streets, the scene of a bloody dispute between criminal groups over the drug sales business in this tourist destination.
