Three new forest fires detected in Campeche

After the extinction of the fire in Chun Ek, the Ministry of Environment, Biodiversity, Climate Change and Energy (SEMABICCE) reported on the appearance of three new fires in the region, which are already being attended to by emergency teams.

According to the data provided, the heat points detected amount to 4,968, with a cumulative total of 22,096, from April 14 to 21. The active fires are located in Chanchen (Hopelchén), El Remate (Calkiní), and Xmejia (Hopelchén).

By municipalities, the figures for hot spots are worrying: Calakmul (117), Calkiní (73), Carmen (631), Champotón (1,023), Palizada (221), Hopelchen (1,162), Campeche (347), Candelaria (904 ), Escárcega (307), Hecelchakan (84) and Tenabo (99).

Given this situation, authorities urged producers to implement responsible measures and prevent those that get out of control the most due to the activities they carry out in different sectors.

Among the measures is that they supervise their burning, as well as processing a burning notice in each City Council, informing neighbors so that they take precautions, preferably carrying out activities from 4 to 11 in the morning. Finally, they pointed out that these recommendations are essential since it is important to preserve the natural heritage for future generations, as well as to protect the environment and avoid possible human tragedies.
