On Thursday, May 23, the governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García Sepúlveda, gave a press conference in which he provided a report on the victims of the collapse of a stage during an event to close the Emecista campaign in the municipality of San Pedro Garza García.
García confirmed that the number of people who were affected by this tragedy was 121, of which nine died, while 27 remain hospitalized and 85 more have already been discharged.
“Unfortunately, of the 121 victims, 9 are deceased, 27 remain hospitalized, the rest have already been discharged due to minor injuries and are at home,” explained the governor.
García Sepúlveda revealed that the state government will support both the bereaved and the injured in everything related to death and hospital expenses, and that an economic fund will also be created to compensate them.
In addition to these measures, it was also announced that minors who have lost a family member in this tragedy will be supported in the same way by the state government through scholarships and economic support.
The governor stated that the Movimiento Ciudadano tragedy in Nuevo León was inexplicable, and that the situation took everyone by surprise since a natural phenomenon like the one that occurred and that caused the stage to collapse was not foreseen.
