Residents of the East of Mérida have reported the presence of a spider monkey near their homes, without knowing its origin.
Through social networks, various users have reported the presence of a spider monkey wandering in the streets of the Chichén Itzá neighborhood in the east of Mérida.
Although so far no authority has commented on the matter, it is known that the spider monkey has walked through the houses of several neighbors.
Witnesses indicate that the primate began to wander in recent days, without knowing if it belonged to anyone.
Likewise, residents of the area indicated that they had already reported it to the authorities, who tried to catch it, but the animal managed to escape.
So far the spider monkey has not attacked any people, since it only hangs out on the neighborhood trees and walls.
It should be noted that the areas with lush vegetation and forest are very far from the Chichén Itzá colony, so it is presumed that the monkey has escaped from a house where he was kept in captivity.
So far, no environmental authority, whether state or federal, has spoken out about trapping it giving it medical attention and then transferring it to its natural habitat.
