Sixty-year-old suffers tragedy in the sea of Progreso

A tragedy was avoided this afternoon on the Malecón de Progreso, where a sexagenarian almost lost his life by drowning. According to the report, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, a man identified as A.G.C., 65 years old, went into the sea and suddenly began to drown.

Witnesses to the event rushed to pull the man from the sea and as emergency services arrived they placed him in a ch air.Paramedics from the Municipal Police were in charge of giving first aid, making the sixty-year-old man draw water through his nose and mouth.

Upon arriving at the scene of the accident, paramedics assessed the affected person and then transferred him to the Agustín O’Horan hospital in Mérida, accompanied by Mrs. M.R.E.C, 66 years old. Both, as it turned out, are originally from Ticul.
