The Maya Train had 29 problems in its third month of operation, bringing the total to 51 incident records since it was inaugurated on December 15, 2023.

According to a response from the state company Tren Maya, from February 19 to March 25, 2024, the emblematic work of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador presented a failure every 30 hours, that is, almost one daily.

The rate of incidents in those 36 days exceeded those recorded by the military, in charge of the operation of the Mayan Train, in the first two months of operation.

On April 19, Latinus revealed that in the first 66 days of the train’s operation, a failure occurred every 3 days.

The Secretariat of National Defense reserved all details about the incidents, considering that it is a matter of national security.

Since the train was inaugurated, service has been suspended on several occasions, it has had problems with the brake system and there was even a derailment of a car on March 25, during a track change at a station located in Yucatán.

Today, five of the seven sections of the project are open to the public and it is possible to travel between Palenque, Chiapas, and Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo. On this tour, you are allowed to hop on and off in cities in Campeche and Yucatán.
