For a week now, residents of Kanasin have reported blackouts, mainly starting at 9:00 p.m.
Two consecutive blackouts have been registered in this municipality on Monday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 14.
On social networks citizens reported that it around 10:00 a.m., the power goes out for an hour, but minutes later, it presents problems again for a longer period, causing distress among the population in the middle of the hot season.
There are several subdivisions and neighborhoods in Kanasín, including Villas de Oriente, Álamos, Encinos, Francisco Villa, Vistana, Amanecer, San Pedro Noh Pat and others that have been affected in recent days by the constant failures, with no information available so far.
More blackouts expected in Mérida
Residents of the Nueva Pacabtún subdivision closed the streets, in protest against the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), as they were left without electricity for more than 24 hours.
The protesters stood on 13th Street between 50th and 52nd Street, with the purpose of drawing the attention of the authorities, since according to what they said, they reported the problem on several occasions, but they were ignored.
Given this situation, and angry at the lack of attention, they decided to close the aforementioned street and lit a bonfire made of branches and old tires. According to the protesters, they have remained without power since 9:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13th until Wednesday, May 15th.
They made the report several times to number 071, but no worker from the electrical company came to repair the damage. They did not leave the site until the problem was solved.
On Thursday, May 9th, in the Cordemex neighborhood, residents closed streets, in protest against the CFE, because they were left without electricity for more than 72 hours, according to what they said. They blocked the roundabout of the Siglo XXI Convention Center.
The residents of Cordemex declared that they were left without electricity for three days, which caused everything from heat stroke in minors, and older adults in need of oxygenation, to the loss of thousands of pesos in food.
