The City Council of Progreso and the Coordination of Medical Health Services in Yucatán will hold the next Free Canine and Feline Sterilization Day on Monday, May 27, starting at 8 in the morning in Chelem.
The deputy director of Ecology, Augusto Navarrete Hevia indicated that at the request of the mayor, Roger Gómez Ortegón, they continue with this initiative to reduce the number of animals abandoned on the street and contribute to the well-being of pets in the community.
The municipal official specified that, as on other days, the quota is limited to 100 animals, and in order to access the service it is necessary for the owner to present an official identification.
Pets must come healthy, clean, and fasting. Do not be in heat or nursing, dogs must be carried on a leash and cats in a carrier.
Navarrete Hevia invited owners of pets of small and flat breeds, such as pugs or those weighing more than 20 kilos, to stay tuned for an upcoming event.
The deputy director of Ecology concluded by thanking all those owners who have shown responsibility for the physical, emotional, and social well-being of their pets, including sterilization, which also helps to avoid certain health problems in their animals.
