The candidate for the local representative of District 8 from the Green Ecologist Party, Bayardo Ojeda Marrufo, publicly denounced the threats to which he has been subjected after openly supporting the candidacies of Renán Barrera Concha and Cecilia Patron Laviada.

Bayardo Ojeda accuses that this is an issue of homophobia because he belongs to a community of sexual diversity.

At a press conference, the candidate for local council declared that he openly supports the gubernatorial candidacy of the PAN, PRI, and Nueva Alianza, and not the Morena candidacies as expected, therefore, he has not stopped receiving harassment and death threats.

“I have received threats, but so has my campaign team because there is intimidation in the campaign house and in the house of a servant. They have asked us for a server to resign from the candidacy,” he described.

However, the candidate indicated that it is not only because he supports the PAN candidacies but also because he is attacked for being homosexual.

“I feel worried, scared, first of all, because I represent the LGBTQ + community and I am a candidate for local representation in District 8,” he said.

At the press conference, Bayardo shared WhatsApp audios in which the voice of a person can be heard referring to the candidate with homophobic insults and Ojeda explained that this is just one of the many threats that he receives every day.

“They make fun of my sexual preferences and tell me they are going to take out my guts with a machete. “I fear for my life,” Bayardo Ojeda declared.
