Vila met with the largest operators of special economic zones in the world

Governor Mauricio Vila met with representatives of JAFZA and DMCC, one of the largest operators of special economic zones in the world.

To continue promoting international collaboration that translates into development for Yucatán and jobs for Yucatecans, Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal met with representatives of JAFZA, authority of the Jebel Ali free zone in Dubai, and with executives from the company DP World to explore innovative practices and successful models, in addition to the exchange of ideas and experiences in the field of special economic zones to promote the Technological Pole in Yucatán with the help of the federal Government.

As part of his working tour of this Middle Eastern country, Vila Dosal held a meeting with Abdulrahman Al Ali, sales director of JAFZA, where broader and deeper perspectives were generated on the strategies and policies that drive economic growth and attraction of investments in the region, thus enriching better knowledge and preparing our state to strengthen collaboration between Yucatán and the United Arab Emirates in the field of economic and commercial development.

The Jebel Ali Free Zone is a special economic zone of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, created in 1985 in a part of the port of Jebel Ali which has become the main development center of the emirate with thousands of companies established within its premises, and an intense industrial and commercial activity initiated by the gas, aluminum and cement industries.

Later, on the last day of his trade mission to Dubai, Vila Dosal met with representatives of the Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC), to learn more about the Jumeirah Free Trade Zone, one of the most important special economic zones in the region.

There, the Governor spoke about strengthening collaboration and promoting the exchange of knowledge on the development and management of special economic zones, as well as the promotion of trade and investment between Yucatan and the United Arab Emirates. For their part, DMCC representatives expressed their interest in strengthening collaboration with Yucatán through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

During the meeting, possibilities for cooperation in key areas were explored, such as the exchange of knowledge in the development and management of special economic zones, as well as the promotion of trade and investment between Yucatan and the United Arab Emirates. This initiative represents an exciting opportunity to expand trade ties and promote mutual economic development between both regions.

DMCC is located in the Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) Free Zone in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. JLT is one of the most important special economic zones in Dubai, known for its modern infrastructure and business-friendly environment.

It is a free zone and government authority established in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with the aim of promoting commodity trade and diversifying the region’s economy. DMCC is known to be one of the world’s largest and most successful trading centers for commodities such as gold, diamonds, precious metals, agricultural products and petrochemicals.

The company offers a wide range of services to other companies operating in these sectors, including registration, licensing services, world-class infrastructure and an international trading platform. DMCC has contributed significantly to Dubai’s economic growth and has consolidated its position as one of the leading global business centers.
