Two women were found dead on Monday, April 1st, inside a hotel in the north of Mérida.

All evidence points to suicide as the cause of death, including two posthumous letters; However, the State Investigative Police (PEI) of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), activated the femicide protocols and began investigations to clarify the facts fully.

The authorities learned of the event through a call to the 9-1-1 emergency number from hotel staff, reporting that the guests were lifeless inside the room.

After confirming the facts, the investigating agents and prosecutors arrived on site, activated the rigorous protocols, and began processing the crime scene.

One of the women is originally from the Mexican state of Aguascalientes. The identity of the second is yet to be confirmed.
In the room, two posthumous notes were allegedly written by one or both of them.
