Tree falls on cars on Pérez Ponce Avenue, in Mérida

Three damaged cars were the result of a tree falling a few meters from Pérez Ponce Avenue. The event took place on Tuesday, April 23, at the corner of 56th Street and that avenue, where emergency services attended the situation.

Near 1 in the afternoon, three motorists were driving on 56th Street, but when they reached the avenue the trunk gave way and broke, falling on a Mitsubishi truck, a Kia Sedan, and a Renault compact car.

Firefighters are working to free three vehicles on which a tree branch fell.

After the incident, those affected called the emergency number, and moments later police and firefighters from the Ministry of Public Security arrived. Officers cordoned off the area and closed the street so that rescuers could carry out the corresponding work. Rescuers worked at the scene to free the vehicles from the large tree.

Meanwhile, the drivers called their insurers to take charge of paying for the damages, since their units ended up with injuries.

The Kia ended up without glasses in its windows due to the strong impact. The tree was infested with termites, which would have caused it to split. There were no injuries.
