Pedestrian dies while trying to cross the Merida Periférico

A man died on the morning of Tuesday, April 16, on the Mérida Periférico after being run over while trying to cross this dangerous road.

The man tried to cross the road from north to south and crossed the outside lane without problem. However, when he tried to cross the internal side, he was hit by a Suzuki compact car that was coming down from the bridge located at Avenue 32, at kilometer 29 of the Mérida Periferico.

The man’s body hit the car’s windshield and was thrown several meters, suffering injuries that practically took his life instantly.

Within minutes, paramedics and police officers arrived at the scene of the accident, but they could do little for the person whose body was lying in the right lane of the ring road and the car in the left lane.

The police implemented a road operation to carry out the corresponding work. This caused road problems and traffic moving slowly, so the line of vehicles extended to near the Caucel bridge.

The woman who was driving the car was left at the disposal of the competent authorities to determine her responsibility in the accident.
