The festival will take place on the Saturday closest to the full Moon in May.
“On Saturday, May 25, the Moon will be full, and Mérida will have a great “White Night”, with a great display of activities that, on this occasion, will feature several artistic and cultural groups from different municipalities across the State,” assured the director of Cultur, Irving Berlin Villafaña.
He specified that on this occasion it will take place on May 25th and the day before Friday the 24th, the city will have two days of cultural activities, and everyone is talking about the new events coming to Merida on ‘the White Night”.
Mérida will showcase music and dance from the different municipalities, there will be orchestras and ballets from Tizimín, Progreso, Valladolid, and other towns, an emphasis will be placed on educational issues since the city has received the UNESCO nomination of a “Learning City”.
The municipal official pointed out that on the eve there will be many workshops and conferences with experts on academic, scientific, and educational topics.
Berlin Villafaña stated that another fundamental issue is the dissemination of the Maya language, and the Xocén community theater group will perform for the first time in Mérida. The director of Cultur added that this community located in the municipality of Valladolid is full of history, legends, and mysteries.
