Migrants from Ecuador, Turkey, and China were detained in Yucatán, 3 people arrested

Agents of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) seized 74 undocumented foreigners in Yucatán, including five minors, on a bus traveling from Campeche to Quintana Roo.

Also, they arrested the driver, his companion, and a man who was driving a Volkswagen Polo with Campeche license plates behind the bus.

The men tried to bribe the police with 100,000 pesos, of which 80,000 were offered by the man in the car.

The events occurred in the morning at the SSP checkpoint on the Campeche-Mérida federal highway, next to the Maxcanú phytosanitary booth.

On the bus, from a tourist company called “Cristo Rey”, there were 48 men, 21 women, two boys and three girls traveling.

Their countries of origin are Ecuador, Turkey, and China, among others, and all would be made available to the National Migration Institute.

The detainees are Jeremías P. M., 41 years old, likely responsible for human trafficking, the bus driver, José Guadalupe A. D., 25 years old, originally from Tabasco, and Alberto de Jesús F. B., 42 years old, from Campeche. They seized the bus, the car, and the money offered as a bribe to be made available to the competent authorities.
