The Yucatecan capital was ranked as the third most expensive city in the entire country.
During the first half of April, inflation in Mérida showed a slight slowdown, however, the Yucatecan capital was positioned as the third most expensive city in the entire country.
The INEGI report showed that the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) reported 5.17 percent for Mérida, well above the national average which was at a level of 4.63 percent.
The five most expensive cities in the country were:
- Huatabampo, with 5.29 percent
- Cancún, with 5.23 percent
- Mérida, with 5.17 percent
- San Luis Potosí with 5.10 percent
- Campeche, with 5.04 percent.
The products that marked the greatest pressure on prices in the third month of the year were air transportation at 28.35 percent; serrano chile at 13.15 percent; lemon at 8.45 percent and chicken at 8.45 percent inflation.
In agricultural products, inflation was 4.92 percent annually, after moderating to 4.77 percent in February.
While energy prices and rates authorized by the Government had an annual inflation of 3.29 percent, from 2.75 percent in February.
