Due to the remodeling work on the Plaza Grande, starting this April 21, the traditional ‘Mérida on Sunday’ (Mérida en Domingo) will be relocated.

After merchants demonstrated against the Mérida City Council for not notifying them about the work in the Plaza Grande, an agreement was reached to move them to a different venue temporarily.

It should be noted that as of Tuesday, April 16, remodeling works will begin in the Plaza Grande of Mérida, as announced by Governor Mauricio Vila.

For this reason, it was decided that the gastronomic and craft market of ‘Mérida en Domingo‘ will have to move to Parque San Juan temporarily.

The temporary change of venue will assure that the traditional merchant exhibition will not be suspended, so it was agreed to maintain the cultural events will also be held in the San Juan square starting on Sunday, April 21.
