When greeting Vila Dosal, the Pontiff sent his blessing to all Yucatecan families and blessed a rosary that will return to Yucatán and that belongs to all the inhabitants of the state.

Vatican City, April 8, 2024.- Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal greeted Pope Francis, during a private trip he made to the Holy See in Rome, who sent his blessing to all Yucatecan families.

Together with his wife María Eugenia Ortiz Abraham, Vila Dosal held a meeting with the Pontiff, who blessed a rosary that would return to Yucatán and belong to all the inhabitants of the state.

The filigree rosary that was blessed by Pope Francis is made of silver and was crafted by the hands of Yucatecan artisan Lulú Herrera, who has more than 22 years of experience creating this type of fine jewelry. The piece will be part of the State’s collection and can be admired by all Yucatecans, as it will be placed in a place where the public can come and about which information will be provided soon.

During his meeting with the Pope, Vila Dosal expressed the affection and appreciation that the people of Yucatán have for his Holiness and thanked the blessings for the families of the state, as well as the rosary that was blessed.

Likewise, the Governor told Pope Francis about the faith and strength of Yucatecan society, that every day it strives to move forward, that never lets its guard down, and that gives the best of itself for its land and its brothers and sisters.

In this context, Vila Dosal presented the Holy Father with a copy of the book “Our Lady of Izamal. Queen and Patroness of Yucatán” by Stella María González Cicero, a work that talks about the history of the venerated Virgin of the City of the Three Cultures and contains authentic illustrations and photographs in the Convent of San Antonio de Padua in that town of the state.
