Pemex platform explodes in Campeche; there are at least 10 injured
An explosion occurred on the Akal-B oil platform, owned by Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), in the Cantarell production complex, in the Campeche probe, north of the Yucatán Peninsula.
At least ten workers were injured due to this incident. The Akal Bravo marine platform, located in the Campeche probe, was also affected by the explosion. So far, Pemex has not issued an official statement on the causes of the incident.
These types of events are worrying and Pemex is expected to activate its safety protocol to evacuate non-essential personnel and control the fire. In previous similar situations, injuries to workers have been recorded.
