Cecilia Patrón proposes starting the Municipal English Academies in the south of Mérida

To offer skills from an early age that will serve to access better job opportunities in the future, the candidate for mayor of Mérida, Cecilia Patrón, announced that she would create Municipal English Academies in the Yucatecan capital.

“In Mexico, those who have an advanced level of English can have a remuneration almost four times higher than those who do not have it, that is why we are betting on the Municipal English Academies,” said Cecilia Patrón.

The Comprehensive Development Centers of the Mérida City Council will be the headquarters of this strategy included in the Government Plan 2024 2027 “One Mérida” which seeks to raise the academic level with the learning of a second language in elementary and secondary school students, which means obtaining greater skills to take advantage of the job opportunities that are being generated in the city with the arrival of national and international companies.

“These English academies aim to enable them to have and achieve a better quality of life, and above all a better paying job,” she added.

The presentation took place at the “Emiliano Zapata Sur” CDI, where the first of these spaces would be installed, which will be carried out in the entire municipality, to guarantee that the opportunities generated in the city are available for all.

“United we are going to build a prosperous Mérida with employment, based on education, so that girls, boys, and young people are ready to meet the demand of the labor market,” Cecilia Patrón declared.

“Every day there are more jobs, both in industry, tourism, and services and we want these to be taken by Yucatecans,” the candidate reiterated.

The Municipal English Academy, owned by the City Council, and located in the city’s center, serves 993 students each year, showing a high demand for this service.

During the announcement, Cecilia Patrón was accompanied by the candidate for local representative for District 6, Felipe Pacheco Sansores.
