Candidate and followers suffer burns in Halachó fire

A rally in Halachó, Yucatán, ended badly because Melba Abraham Hoyos, PAN (Partido Acción Nacional) candidate for mayor, and two other people were burned by fireworks.

Municipal authorities indicated that Melba Abraham and two other people, an 11-year-old girl and a 24-year-old young man, had burns after the explosion of fireworks.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 24 in the evening, when Melba Abraham was walking in the municipality while people were setting up fireworks.

Due to carelessness, one of the gunpowder devices was fired towards the crowd, where the PAN candidate was with the young man and the child, who were affected by the explosion.

The incident generated the mobilization of the people who were at the rally, who helped the injured.

The girl and the PAN candidate were seriously injured, so they were taken to a clinic in Maxcanú to receive medical care.
