Campeche fights forest fires with a helicopter

The Secretariat of Environment, Biodiversity, and Climate Change of Campeche announced that the Armed Forces have collaborated by providing a helicopter with a helibucket to fight the fire in Chun Ek, in the municipality of Hopelchén.

The use of this unit aims to moisten the vegetation affected by the fire and help combatants control the advance of the fire. This demonstrated the efforts of the authorities to control this terrible environmental impact since so far, the fire has consumed approximately 5,900 acres of land.

Thanks to the use of this container, it has been possible to moisten the area and contain the advance of the fire, which has allowed control to reach 60% and liquidation to 40%. Yesterday a total of 122 elements belonging to 10 brigades carried out work to open and monitor firebreaks in an area of ​​4.1 kilometers, in addition to carrying out liquidation work in a perimeter of one thousand meters.
