Crime is expanding throughout the country, and somehow they manage to bring shipments of drugs to Yucatán. As part of the frontal combat against these groups, two people were arrested with a large shipment of illegal substances on Wednesday, April 24 in Merida.

A statement indicates that federal and state forces searched four properties in different parts of Mérida, where they seized more than 360 kilograms of cannabis and 35 kilograms of methamphetamines (crystal).

During the operation, two people were arrested: Argelia G. A., 63 years old, and Fernando B. D., 61.

The places searched were the properties of the Obrera, Los Reyes, Roble Agrícola, and Centro neighborhoods, where different quantities of drugs were seized.

Documents and personal identification were also secured which will be integrated into the investigations.

The joint and coordinated operation between the Army, Navy, National Guard, State Investigation Police of the Ministry of Public Security, and the State Attorney General’s Office is part of the permanent actions to combat drug dealing in Yucatan.

The seizures were the result of information obtained in previous arrests and were possible by anonymous citizen complaints and investigations by agents to support search warrants before judges.

The first search was in a property on 84th Street, 71st and 73rd Streets in the Center of Mérida. Subsequently, the agents carried out the second search on 81-A Street by 90-B in the Obrera neighborhood. The third operation was carried out on 81-A Street and 90 Los Reyes. There was a fourth search on 45th and 47th streets in El Roble Agrícola.

The detainees and the drugs were placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office.
