The State Attorney General’s Office activated the femicide protocol after the discovery of the body of a woman in the Cuauhtémoc neighborhood of Kanasín.
The body was half naked in a house that is practically abandoned but is the haunt of people who use it to drink intoxicating beverages.
The street was cordoned off while procedures were carried out to take evidence before removing the body. It was found that the body showed no signs of violence, but was without a blouse or underwear.
As part of the investigations, the alleged owner of the one-room house, Ernesto, an elderly man, was arrested in Mérida.
According to the neighbors, Ernesto usually takes different women to help him clean the land.
On Friday, April 26, Ernesto went with a woman named Judith, which her husband would have corroborated, but at the end of the day, they only saw the alleged owner leaving.
In the morning, upon seeing the door open, someone entered and found the woman’s body and reported it to the authorities. In a statement, the SSP reported that “investigations are very advanced to clarify a probable femicide and that “for now it is not legally possible to provide more information in compliance with due process.”
