As in all Holy Week and Easter holidays, the tourism, restaurant, and hotel sectors benefited the most. Although the figure for the economic impact left by the first week is not yet available, it seems it will achieve the goal of $1,390,000,000 calculated by the National Chamber of Services and Tourism of Mérida (Canaco Servitur).

In addition to people visiting recreational and vacation centers, there was a good influx of customers to the city’s shopping malls.

In a statement sent by his press office, the president of Canaco, Levy Abraham Macari, pointed out that the holidays, which began on March 22 and ended on April 8, will generate an optimistic outlook for Mérida’s commerce.

Likewise, he stressed that the businesses that benefit the most during this holiday period are hotels, restaurants, craft stores, taxi drivers, travel agencies, car rental companies, airlines, bus companies, and tourist guides.

“This economic impact will be more evident in the tourism, hotel, and restaurant sectors, as well as social spaces, such as archaeological zones and recreational areas where children on vacation can have a healthy distraction,” he indicated. During these holidays, there is a large influx of tourists on the state’s coast, as well as in the magical towns and the Historic Center of the city.
