A terrible event was reported on a road near the community of Mahahual, where a Margay was run over.

Aak Mahahual Project, through its digital platforms, shared a video to raise awareness among drivers about the importance of driving with caution and respect for wildlife after this sad loss.

The video shows the lifeless body of the Tigrillo, highlighting its condition as one of the five felines that inhabit the Mayan jungle of Quintana Roo. The association attributes the accident to excessive speed and lack of caution on the part of drivers, urging them to drive more carefully.

The body of the margay was transferred to the Colegio de la Frontera Sur in Chetumal to carry out studies that provide vital information about this species. The representative of Proyecto Aak Mahahual called on visitors to Mahahual, reminding them that the area is habitat for a wide variety of wildlife and asking them to drive with caution to prevent similar accidents.
