34 Mexican nationals will be repatriated from Haiti to Progreso, Yucatán

34 Mexican nationals were rescued from Haiti, after the wave of violence in that country, who will arrive in the next few hours at the port of Progreso, Yucatán.

In a joint statement from the Secretariats of Foreign Affairs (SER) and the Navy (Semar), it was reported that the compatriots who were rescued from Haiti will arrive today, Monday, including personnel from the diplomatic corps and their families.

Those rescued were transferred in two flights by an MI-17 helicopter of the Navy Secretariat, from a heliport of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti; to the ARM ship “Isla Holbox” (BAL-02) of Semar, that will bring them to Progreso, Yucatán.

After their arrival, people will be transferred to different states of the country where their families are waiting for them.

Among the repatriated people there are 24 men and 10 women, including four officials from the Mexican Embassy and seven minors, detailed the Mexican Foreign Minister, Alicia Bárcena.

The situation in Haiti worsened on February 29 when armed gangs joined together and spread terror to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry, who is now in the United States and has agreed to resign as soon as a presidential council is made official. of Transition.
