The new provision of the Canadian government to require a visa for Mexicans who intend to enter that country puts university students in trouble. As part of the State Government’s University Mobility plan, numerous university students signed up to travel to Canada as part of their studies.

However, with Canada’s determination to require a visa, the situation of university students remains in a state of uncertainty, since until now they do not know what will happen in this situation.

In the case of the University of Valladolid, Yucatán, 39 university students were scheduled to make the trip.

Visa uncertainty

Dozens of university students who were scheduled to travel to Canada for their studies, as part of a state government program, are in a state of uncertainty after that country decided to require a visa to enter.

The state government had created the University Mobility program, which consists of taking students from private and public universities to the United States and Canada as part of a study plan, among whose benefits was the improvement of the English language.

In recent months, those interested took an online exam to carry out the selection of students.

Once selected, they began to hold meetings in the city of Mérida to plan the trips and the destinations that corresponded to each student.

Since then, some groups have traveled without problems, however, there are still several groups to travel to and it is known that today, Saturday, Uady students will travel, others will do so in April and next May.

In the case of the University of Valladolid, Yucatán (UVY), 39 university students were scheduled to travel, but only a few have done so and the majority are scheduled for April and May.

It was found out that those who would travel today, Saturday, March 2, were canceled and are waiting for what is resolved between the governments. In the case of the UVY university students, they do not know with certainty what will happen, since processing their visa would take them a long time and would not be enough for the day they have scheduled their trip, many of the young people have even incurred expenses in purchasing of appropriate clothing, suitcases, they even paid to process their passports and now they don’t know what will happen.
