Abraham Macari had the terrible idea of mounting a small little pony during his campaign tour.
Esteban Abraham Macari, a candidate for federal representative by the PAN, was accused of mistreatment and animal abuse by internet users on different social network platforms, when he got on the back of a defenseless little pony that could barely bear the burden of this overweight man, as part of his campaign act in a Yucatecan rural community.
Despite the fact that the animal looked uncomfortable and was staggering, the fat politician insisted on staying on top of it, which caused enormous criticism online.
Shortly after, Macari deleted the publication and said that the animal was fine, because “my weight was on my feet and not on the pony.” But the damage had been done. A terrible mistake for a politician in the middle of his campaign, to be remembered as “the fat guy who sat on a scrawny little pony”.
For many people on social networks, the action by Abrahan Macari was a clear act of animal cruelty, as many claim that the man should be formally accused of animal cruelty before a state court.
This situation has been so harshly criticized on social networks, that could result in bad press not only for the Yucatecan candidate for Congress but also for the political party he represents, the National Action Party (Partido Acción Nacional: PAN).
