During an operation, federal authorities seized banned marine species in Dzilam Bravo warehouses, confirming rumors that there are businessmen promoting poaching and depredation.

The marine species were found in a warehouse after a search carried out by federal authorities, despite the confrontation with the place owners.

On the night of Wednesday, February 28, agents from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) searched the warehouse of the businessman known as “Pititis”, which had grouper and octopus, species that are prohibited.

After finding the marine products, the owner of the place, his son and son-in-law arrived to hinder the work of the authorities of the Federal Ministerial Police. During the operation, octopuses, even small ones and groupers, were seized.

A young woman was detained to give a statement, but in the end, she was released, after the owner of the warehouse crossed boats to prevent the passage of official vehicles and the National Guard.

As evidence to integrate the investigation folder, the authorities seized harpoons, oxygen tanks, compressors, scales, and notebooks with notes on octopus, sea cucumber, and grouper.

To avoid further problems and confrontations federal authorities proceeded to leave the scene. The agents said that they would soon issue arrest warrants against the people involved. Inspectors from the National Aquaculture and Fisheries Commission (Conapesca) were absent during the operation.
