Tourist arrested for hitting a police dog in Playa del Carmen

A woman who arrived in Playa del Carmen as a tourist, from Central Mexico, was arrested on Tuesday, March 12th, after hitting and injuring a police dog from the state Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC).

According to unofficial data, these events occurred shortly before noon, when police officers were carrying out an inspection inside an ADO company bus.

Witnesses to the events report that the woman, having the dog nearby, kicked it repeatedly, causing injuries.

This person, about 55 years old, fled the scene but was detained by police officers a few blocks away.

The woman, identified as Mónica “N.”, was placed under the custody of the State Attorney General’s Office to answer for these events.

The police dog is already under treatment, as it was taken to a veterinarian clinic in the municipality of Solidaridad.
