To guarantee the safety of Merida residents, as well as national and foreign visitors, the Municipal Police of Mérida will launch its security and road operation for the Easter holidays starting next Saturday, March 23rd.

In a statement it is reported that through this operation, which will conclude on Sunday, April 7, surveillance will be reinforced in foreign bus terminals, urban transport stops, the market area and public spaces of tourist attraction such as Plaza Grande and Santa Lucy.

Likewise, road surveillance and support will be reinforced in churches, due to the activities and masses that will take place on those days.

In this operation, riot vans, patrol cars, ATVs, electric vehicles and motorcycle squads will be available, who will carry out tours in the area of their jurisdiction.

Police operational bases in Mérida
For a better distribution of emergency and security services there will be three operational bases in Eulogio Rosado Park, in the TAME Terminal (on 69th Street between 68 and 70) and in the CAME Terminal (68th Street between 69 and 71).

Through this operation, surveillance will be reinforced at the Noreste Bus terminals, AutoProgreso, and the Progreso bus site, where the canine squad will also be present.

Operational personnel from the areas of the Tourist Police, Citizen Security, Roads, Paramedics, Tactical Reaction Group, Canine Unit, the Animal Protection Unit, and Experts in Traffic Events and Road Engineering will participate in the security operation.

Police surveillance in the “mercados”
Police surveillance will be extended to the Lucas de Gálvez and San Benito markets, the García Rejón Bazaar, as well as the commercial area, banks, ATMs, plazas, jewelry centers, and residential areas to prevent home robberies.

Breathalyzers
There will also be breathalyzers enabled at different points in the Historic Center, to prevent accidents and provide safety to pedestrians and drivers.
