During the night of Tuesday, March 12th, three motorcyclists died after being involved in traffic accidents in Mérida

In a matter of minutes, the death of three motorcyclists was registered in different events.

Two motorcyclists lost their lives when they crashed head-on while riding their respective motorcycles, on 127th Street (between 70 and 72), in Mérida’s San Antonio Xluch neighborhood.

According to witnesses, one motorcycle was heading West on 127th Street, while the other one was heading East on the same Avenue, apparently one of them tried to pass the vehicle in front of him, but he did not notice the other motorcyclist coming toward him, and they collided head-on.

After the impact, both ended up lying in the middle of the street, their helmets came off and their heads hit the pavement. Motorists behind them stopped and signaled the incident with their emergency lights.

They immediately requested the presence of the authorities due to the traffic situation. When the emergency medical technicians from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) arrived, they could only confirm that neither of them had vital signs.

Fatal accident on the Mérida-Tixkokob road

Just a few minutes later, a motorcyclist died after being hit by a car on the Mérida-Tixkokob highway near the Villas de Oriente subdivision.

The traffic incident occurred when the driver of a Mazda compact car with Yucatán license plate number YZF 554-D, was guided by Mario Enrique BD, 51 years old, on the Mérida-Tixkokob highway (65th street of the aforementioned subdivision), but as he crossed 28th Street, he hit the white and blue Italika motorcycle with the license plates 55YWY5.

The deceased motorcyclist was the manager of a motel located on that highway, and he tried to cross the road and head towards Merida, he did not see the Mazda and was impacted at full speed, dying instantly.

The emergency medical staff from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) arrived on site only to confirm the death of the motorcyclist.
