Massive operation to combat dengue in Yucatán

The fumigation will be carried out in Tizimín, Panabá and Progreso, among other municipalities.

The state government continues to implement preventive actions against dengue, Zika, and chikungunya, which is why it will carry out a massive fumigation operation starting tomorrow, Monday, March 11, at the Dzonot Carretero police station, Tizimín, as well as in the municipal seat. from Panabá and Dzilam from Bravo.

The director of Prevention and Health Protection of the Yucatan Health Secretariat (SSY), Carlos Isaac Hernández Fuentes, highlighted the continued commitment of both the state government and citizens in these joint measures.

Hernández Fuentes reported that the actions will continue during the week in various municipalities, with fumigations scheduled for Tuesday the 12th in Tizimín, Dzidzantún, Yobaín, Sinanché, Telchac Puerto, and Dzilam de Bravo, followed by activities on Wednesday the 13th in Panabá, Telchac and Chicxulub Puerto (Progreso), and on Thursday the 14th in Panabá, Chicxulub Puerto and Progreso.

On Friday, March 15th, they will focus again on Progreso, Yucalpetén and Chelem.

Hernández Fuentes emphasized that the prevention of the dengue virus is everyone’s responsibility, and good results are achieved by working as a team.

He reported that since January and to date, larval control has been carried out in 80,837 homes, fogging an area of ​​7,820 hectares and fumigating 1,478 homes. He urged citizens to keep doors and windows open during fumigation and to eliminate possible mosquito breeding sites in their homes.

In addition, he recommended the use of repellents, household insecticides, and protecting windows with crinolines. He stressed the importance of keeping yards clean and free of breeding sites.

Finally, he emphasized that health is a shared responsibility and the population is thanked for their collaboration in these preventive actions. The community is called upon to follow these recommendations to protect the health of all Yucatecans.
