Gustavo Rodríguez Vega, Archbishop of Yucatán involved in traffic accident

The Archbishop of Yucatán, Gustavo Rodríguez Vega, suffered a car accident along with his driver when they were heading to the municipality of Ticul, in the south of Yucatán.

The vehicle in which they were traveling left the road and ended up in the undergrowth, the prelate suffered three fractures, two in the left collarbone and one in the right wrist.

At the scene, the archbishop received first aid from paramedics, and after evaluating him, he was taken to a hospital in Mérida, from where he was reported stable.

The Archdiocese of Yucatán sent a statement explaining what happened.

And to avoid speculation, the archbishop himself gave instructions to make known the road accident and the consequences.

“Thank God, in general, they are both well and under control. These injuries, with days of rest, will heal soon. There were no other people affected or involved,” the document says.

Monsignor Rodríguez Vega asked for patience regarding upcoming commitments and said that little by little he will gradually incorporate into his ordinary activities.
