HUNUCMÁ, Yucatán.- A strong fire on the abandoned land of the Bachoco company caused panic in the residents of Hunucmá this Sunday afternoon, which generated an intense mobilization of firefighters, elements of the SSP and municipal Civil Protection.
A large column of black smoke rose over the land on 31st Street to the east of the municipality; Neighbors in the area lived moments of anguish due to fear that the flames would reach their homes.
Although the causes of the fire are unknown, everything indicates that it was caused by the magnifying glass effect due to the high temperatures and the brush that is completely dry, which caused the fire to spread very quickly through the mountains and towards the houses of the town. .
On its Facebook account, the Hunucmá City Council shared images of the fire and recommended avoiding burning garbage near mountains or places with dry leaves.
