Campeche police officers pointed out that their dignity cannot be negotiated and abuses by senior state security officials cannot be allowed.

Agents of the Campeche police department reproached President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for supporting the governor, Layda Sansores, despite the protests of recent days.

The officers demand the dismissal of the Secretary of Security, Marcela Muñoz, after a failed operation in recent days that left dozens of uniformed officers injured.

“We have always supported you, Mr. President, because we know that you are a fair man. You have always told all of Mexico that the people give and the people take, why do you now betray us like this?” asked one of the police officers during an assembly.

“Tell us, Mr. President, what has to happen to us so that the state and federal authorities pay attention to what is happening in Campeche? Do any of us have to die? Are our lives worthless? “Every citizen’s life is valuable including the life of police officers,” he indicated.

The dissatisfied police officer pointed out that his dignity cannot be negotiated and abuses by senior state security officials can be allowed.

“We only ask that you listen to us, so you know what is happening with us, the great danger to which our commanding officers have exposed us, who have neither the preparation nor the sensitivity to direct us,” said the uniformed man.

President López Obrador previously expressed all his support for the governor of Campeche, Layda Sansores, after the protest by police in the state capital of Campeche, who demanded the dismissal of the Secretary of Security, after a failed operation in recent days that left dozens of injured women police officers.

The president asked the Campeche police officers to have confidence in the governor to resolve the issue of Muñoz’s alleged abuse of authority, which has triggered a series of unprecedented protests in the state in recent days.

In Campeche, all our support for Layda Sansores (…) Let her resolve the issue and make it clear that we have all our trust in Governor Layda Sansores,” AMLO declared.

“I would recommend to the Campeche police officers that they reach an agreement with Layda, who is an honest governor, with good feelings, and that they not allow themselves to be manipulated, because politicians, I can’t talk about who is manipulating the situation, so don’t worry, they will not get away with it,” Lopez Obrador said.
