Given the accelerated growth of real estate developments on the outskirts of the city of Mérida, the coast, and other areas of high economic impact, the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI) A.C., considered that there should be greater regulation and order in the legislation on the matter, so that the dynamic continues to increase positively in the region.

The president of the AMPI in Yucatán, Iván Cervera López, highlighted that the responsibility of real estate professionals lies in providing advice choosing which plans should be promoted, and pointing out the deficiencies that may exist in terms of regulation and projects. considered “Not responsible”.

Within the framework of the presentation of the 2024 Board of Directors and the work plan for this period, the specialist insisted that the AMPI is an association that has the technical capacity to raise awareness and train people who want to dedicate themselves to the real estate industry and that the fight for orderly growth is in the interest of everyone.

“I think it is up to all Yucatecans to push and demand orderly growth because it is the place where we live, it is the place where although as marketers we live from the sale of these properties, we have to ensure that the growth is orderly so that we can live. of this for several more years,” he warned.

Cervera López emphasized that having a city that grows in a disorderly manner could represent a threat since Mérida would cease to be an attractive, prosperous, and stable area. He indicated that this is a responsibility that falls to everyone, real estate professionals, businessmen, and authorities in the field.

He shared that the AMPI acquired a responsibility with the training of its nearly 600 members, to only approve projects that have the permits that the law currently establishes since the Government is the one that sets the rules and the professionals raise their voices when they are told. They seem inadequate and suggest when they can be improved.

The President of the AMPI insisted that it is essential to regulate real estate developments and to be vigilant that the operating rules and criteria established comply with current regulations.

Regarding the alleged cases of real estate fraud in some areas of the city and the coast, he responded that professionalism must be promoted to improve the perception of those who live in Yucatán or those who are interested in coming to reside in this region.

“Yucatán is one of the states with the greatest legal certainty, however, it is evident that certain situations continue to occur and these normally go hand in hand with informal people, people who lack experience and who make decisions that are not appropriate and that In the end, the lack of these capabilities comes to light,” said Iván Cervera.
