A woman missing in the US is found in a cemetery in Baja California, Mexico

Reyna Hernández, who disappeared in the United States last February, was found dead in Mexico, US authorities reported. Reyna’s body was found in a cemetery in recent days and it is suspected that she was a victim of domestic violence. Seattle, Washington resident Reyna Hernández, 54, was reported missing on February 26.

Reyna was last seen alive opening her hair salon in the city of Renton, south of Seattle.

On March 8, Renton detectives saw a report in the Mexican media about the discovery of an unidentified body in the cemetery of Mexicali, Baja California in Mexico.

After contacting the Mexican authorities and exchanging information about their cases, the body of Reyna Hernández, who was a victim of domestic violence, was identified.

“This is the worst possible outcome, and our hearts go out to Reyna’s family and friends,” Renton Police Commander Chandler Swain said in a news release.

The first investigations indicate that Reyna was kidnapped and taken to Mexico in her car.

The Renton Police Department confirmed in a statement that the body of the missing woman was found in Mexicali and the arrest of a possible suspect.

Mexican officers detained a 61-year-old man, also a Renton resident, on charges unrelated to the death. However, they are investigating whether there is any connection between the suspect and the victim and his homicide.

US authorities stressed that they are collaborating with their counterparts in Mexico to determine when and where Reyna Hernández was murdered. Commander Swain added that they will request the extradition of the detainee if it is determined that the murder of Reyna Hernández occurred in United States territory. The suspect’s name was not released.
