A truck overturns in the Mérida Periférico with thousands of liters of tar

The accident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. when a truck was dragging two trailers on Mérida’s Periférico. At kilometer 8, near the bridge to Xmatkuil, the driver fell asleep, the vehicle left the road and upon returning caused the second trailer to detach and head towards the central ravine, where it overturned. For its part, the truck continued on its path for about 100 meters until it stopped.

The splash began to spill onto the grass area, so the rapid response of firefighters was needed, who threw a foamy substance on the spill to prevent any fire or complications.

The police implemented a traffic operation due to the work. In addition, the area was cordoned off to prevent anyone from being injured, but so far no injuries have been reported. The Police detained the truck’s driver.
