Carelessness behind the wheel was enough for a man driving on the Hunucmá-Tetiz highway to leave the road and overturn spectacularly, suffering several blows, right at the height of the “pig shed.”

On Wednesday, March 6th, Mr. José Sebastián B. Ch., 44 years old, a resident of Nohuayún, a rural community in this municipality, was driving a Dodge Attitude compact vehicle on the aforementioned road, but when trying to connect his cell phone through Bluetooth to his car, he got distracted for a second, causing him to lose control of the steering wheel and leave the road.

At full speed he left the road and advanced several meters through the brush until he crashed into a wall, which caused the vehicle to overturn until it was completely upside down, leaving the driver stuck between the roof and the seats of the car.

The emergency number 911 was notified, while other witnesses came to help him get out.

At kilometer 35 of said section, the SSP Y-35 ambulance arrived, whose paramedics proceeded to treat “Don Sebas” and later transferred him to a hospital in Mérida for better medical care.

Municipal police officers and state police officers took charge of the mishap and requested the support of a crane to lift and tow the vehicle that was ready for the scrapyard.
