A man drowned when a small boat sank in Progreso

On Sunday, March 17, a person lost his life in Progreso waters, after the small wooden boat in which he went out to sea capsized.

The now deceased truck driver along with a friend decided to go out in a boat to carry out recreational fishing activities, however, a few meters away from the chocolate pier they had a mishap, and both men ended up in the water, they tried to swim to the pier when they saw that the small boat was gone.

The two men on the boat were identified as José Pérez and Eduardo Landa from Veracruz.

Fishermen who were looking from the chocolate pier threw a rope at them, so they could reach it, but unfortunately, only one of them managed to do so, and the now-deceased did not know how to swim.

The emergency services went to the area, however, the paramedics confirmed that one of them no longer had vital signs.
