Intense police mobilization was reported last Thursday, March 28 at the Mérida International Airport, where a foreigner was detained when an arsenal of cartridges was found on him.
It turned out that the American man was in the waiting room at the “Manuel Crescencio Rejón” airport when agents of the National Guard approached him and informed him that they would carry out a check on him.
When searching through his suitcase, agents found hundreds of useful cartridges of different calibers, which he intended to take out of the country. Due to this, emergency protocols were activated, so the subject, identified as Matthew G., was immediately detained by authorities. The American was placed at the disposal of the authorities of the Attorney General’s Office for the corresponding investigations.
