A disturbing scene unfolded on Sunday, Feb. 25, around 9:00 in the morning at kilometer 212 of Federal Highway 307, where a black bag containing human remains was found next to a dirt road in the old garbage dump on the outskirts of Tulum.

After receiving the report, agents of the Quintana Roo Municipal Police moved to the scene to verify the situation. Upon confirming the presence of the remains, the area was secured with two patrol cars and tape to preserve the scene until the arrival of the ministerial experts.

According to preliminary information, it is presumed that it was a passer-by who discovered the macabre scene while traveling along the road, and he immediately notified the authorities by calling 911. At the moment, details about the identity of the victim have not been revealed by the local authorities.

Experts from the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) transferred the remains to the local morgue to carry out exhaustive studies and determine the precise cause of death. Until now, the victim remains unknown, while the authorities continue with the investigations to clarify this disturbing event.

This discovery has generated shock in the Tulum community, and authorities are expected to provide additional information as investigations progress.
