Through his internet portal, meteorologist Juan Antonio Palma Solís, coordinator of the meteorology agency Meteored México, announced that there will be a small pause in the meteorological conditions that have been perceived in the region in recent days.
In his report, Palma Solís reported that there will be “an especially pleasant atmosphere for the beginning of the Mérida Carnival.”
He announced that they are monitoring “a new winter phenomenon,” which will probably approach the Yucatan Peninsula at the beginning of next week.
The meteorologist pointed out in his report that, due to the low presence of cloud cover and the influence of the continental polar air mass that drove cold front number 32, which he calls “Tuuk”, for the morning of Thursday, February 8, the end of the “freezing” will be perceived, since minimum temperatures of 50 °F to 59 °F were expected in the center and south of the Yucatán Peninsula, without ruling out lower values in those localities that have abundant vegetation around them.
Starting on Thursday, February 8, the thermal characteristics of the polar air mass will begin to change, so a gradual increase in temperature is anticipated. For Friday, February 9, maximum temperature values of up to 89 °F are forecast. Likewise, east-southeast and southeast winds will return, with speeds of 10 to 40 km/h, and stronger gusts in coastal areas.
The increase in heat will be more noticeable as the weekend approaches; For Saturday and Sunday, maximum temperatures could reach up to 89 °F in the west of the Yucatán Peninsula.
Rainfall will continue to be scarce for the rest of the week, only isolated to scattered light rains, less than 5 mm, are expected in the east, center, south, northwest of Yucatán, north, center-east, south-east of Campeche and north, center, south of Quintana Roo.
Palma Solís pointed out that next Sunday’s day will pass relatively calmly. However, on the night of that day, a cold front will begin to move towards the Gulf of Mexico, which would bring new meteorological changes.
