With the last presentation of the work Hymenoptera. Ballet for ants and other insects the celebration of the 12th anniversary of Tapanco Centro Cultural AC will take place in the state capital.
This piece is a production that was presented in November 2023 by Javier Álvarez, the first rector of the Yucatán University of the Arts (UNAY), formerly the Yucatán Higher School of Arts (Esay), who died in May of last year.
On Saturday, March 16, the Armando Manzanero Theater will host the celebration of a place that has been defined as a space for the performing arts in all its possible varieties, which has an open-door policy to receive proposals.
“We celebrate “El Tapanco”, a place that has earned a special place in the Yucatecan audience. People know that it is a space where they can enjoy art in many forms,” said Bryant Caballero, founder and CEO of El Tapanco.
For 12 years, El Tapanco has been in charge of promoting the works of the El Sótano performing collective, which is a local theatrical company, but it has also formed networks with other collectives and has become its venue.
The team at this cultural center is in charge of the titanic task of managing a project, a job that Bryant describes as expensive and complicated, that involves countless efforts and has brought succcess to many artistic projects.
The last function of Hymenoptera. Ballet for ants and other insects will be possible thanks to the México en Escena scholarship, granted by the federal Ministry of Culture.
