After the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) announced a “clean up” in Tabasco at the beginning of February, it took on the task of eliminating “La Barredora”, an antagonistic group that has been operating in that state for a long time and whose leader, a dangerous criminal, would take refuge in Mérida, Yucatán, they warn in videos circulating on social media.
And since last February 5, the CJNG anticipated that they would eliminate members of “La Barredora” because they committed murders, kidnappings, extortions, gasoline theft, and drug dealing, but the argument is a pretext because that does not matter to the CJNG who does what itself, but rather it is a dispute over territory for trafficking in humans, drugs, weapons; among others.
With the cruelty that characterizes organized crime groups in Mexico and that knows no limits, this Saturday, February 24, they released a video where they decapitated three people using a blunt machete, to sow terror, as they announced a supposed “clean” one with brutal, gore-type practices.
In the video that shows images of unspeakable horror, the executioner is along with about twenty people with long weapons and tactical equipment, they send greetings to “licensed Tomás” to Mérida, about Carlos Tomás Díaz Rodríguez, also known by the aliases from “El Lic”, “El Tomasín” or “El 12”.
After the discovery of the heads, on Saturday, February 24 in the morning, the video began to circulate on social media, where the armed group subjugates three men, who were decapitated one by one, with a machete, while they sent a message addressed to “Lic. Tomás” to the city of Mérida, Yucatán.
Carlos Tomás Díaz Rodríguez is one of the leaders of “La Barredora”, a criminal cell that operates in Tabasco and is also known by the aliases “El Lic”, “Lic. Tomás”, “El Tomasín” or “El 12”.
According to data from the National Transparency Platform, he worked between 2015 and 2017 as an assistant in the Municipal Presidency of Macuspana.
Carlos Tomás Díaz Rodríguez was included in a 2022 military intelligence report that linked Tabasco politicians, such as former Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection Hernán Bermúdez Requena, with organized crime.
