Couple burned to death in an accident on the Mérida-Cancún

The terrible collision head-on of a truck with a compact car in which the couple was traveling, left two people dead and one injured.

couple suffered a terrible end, after being burned to death after being hit by a truck, on the Mérida-Cancún free federal highway, at kilometer 168 Valladolid-Tikuch section.

The events were recorded on Sunday, February 4th, around 8:00 p.m., when the driver of a GMC Suburban type truck tried to pass a vehicle and invaded the opposite lane, but due to the driver’s recklessness he crashed head-on into a Toyota Avanza compact car, with Quintana Roo license plates.

Due to the impact, the Avanza immediately caught fire and the couple who was on board could not get out of the vehicle, so they burned to death.

Meanwhile, the Suburban truck overturned and the driver was injured.

But these two vehicles were not the only ones involved, since at that moment, the driver of a Dodge Ram 400 cargo truck that was traveling behind Avanza, to avoid colliding with the accident vehicles, swerved and lost control, therefore which ended up hitting a tree.

The man was treated by paramedics, who provided him with first aid, as well as the driver of the Suburban truck.

The burned couple, around 35 years old, remain unknown until now.

The site was flagged and cordoned off by police officers, and personnel from the FGE and Semefo arrived minutes later to take care of the bodies.
